Henry is eight months old!

Henry had a great month and is loving summer! The weather has spoiled us with record lows for July and we've definitely taken advantage of it with several more dips in the pool and loads of walks. It is apparent this man is going to love being outside:) Henry has experimented with many new vegetables and fruits this month! We've tried avocados, green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, pears, peaches and prunes. Not sure we have any favorites yet, but Henry has proven to be a great eater... which has helped us in the growing department! Colleen and I have started going to the Farmer's Market to get fresh veggies and fruit from the local farmers in hopes that we keep Henry's options plentiful and food as healthy as possible... our food processor has never gotten this much use before!!

Henry attended lots of fun events this month with his tour guides in life and here are a few worth mentioning... We celebrated July 4th with Grams and Doug in their loft overlooking KC which was a beautiful (and distant:) place to admire the firework displays. Henry was peacefully sleeping while we were able to take in the view! Henry visited Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate Cousin Anna's 5th birthday! He got his first dose of skeetball and video games and we have a feeling it won't be the last time we visit that establishment:) If I think too much about it I start hearing the songs Chuck and his friends sang on stage during our visit there... yikes!

In the beginning of the summer Aunt Colleen checked out a "day trips in Kansas City" book from the library with the idea that she and Julie would visit some KC hot spots with the boys... and the rest is history. They have knocked out some good ones... Powell Gardens, the KC Zoo, and the Shatto. Not sure about the boys, but the moms had LOTS of fun:) Isn't summer wonderful?!

Henry and I had a good combination of some slow and some busy weekends. Even the "slow" ones go so fast for me as I'm catching up with all the new things Henry is doing. Henry has become so independent these days that we're constantly trying to keep him busy and occupied when there is "down time" at home. Thank goodness for all the different toys and different contraptions that we had and/or that Cousin Leo has let us borrow (thanks Aunt Colleen!) including Henry's bumbo, excersaucer, rocking chair and high chair to keep Henry's perspective ever changing and learning and playing going! This has also been a welcome break for mommas arms, and has kept Henry exploring! Henry has become an expert roller and can make it well across any room in a short amount of time (to be exact, the time it takes you to wash several bottles:)... scary, but great. We see the beginnings of crawling with Henry's bootie in the air and legs kicking. Henry is also able to push up with his arms and lunge toward things he wants (like the cats:). We think our time until baby proofing the house is limited- All good things!

We celebrated an old rugby friend's engagement/upcoming wedding and Henry attended several of the bachelorette events (all G rated, of course:)! It is wonderful to see how starting a family changes your friendships as you share your child and their experience with them... a whole new side of friendships that I am enjoying. I have loved becoming even closer to friends and family during this process... another wonderfully unexpected gift Henry has given us:)

Hope your summer is (and continues to be) wonderful!!
