Henry has hit double digits (in months, that is)!

Henry is 10 months and growing! Gone is the small blanket Henry used to play on in the living room as he is "army" crawling much further than his previous 5 foot cube! This past weekend he crawled into the kitchen from the living room while I was cleaning bottles... and kind of looked at me like "Yep, this is what I can do now"! At that time I added "get a lock on the basement door" to Julie's "to do" list:) We've got the sitting thing down and now remaining still is truly a thing of the past... which we couldn't be more excited about!

The cooler temps have led us to fleece jammies and hoodies for all the visits/walks/outing Henry takes us on, and we're excited for all that fall has in store for us! We're considering our options for Henry's first Halloween costume... any suggestions?!? There will be plenty of pictures of that occasion for sure! We're eating meats now, though his mommas can't believe he can choke them down (don't ever try baby food meats!)! We're slowly transitioning to cutting up food as opposed to pureeing it as Henry is beginning to be up for the challenge, though it is a slow process. We continue to get the funny faces as we introduce new foods and new textures, and always get a kick out of them. Lots of videos in the flickr account to document this progression... quite a funny one.

Henry had a 6 month evaluation for the First Steps Program from which he receives Occupational Therapy, Dietitian counsel and soon Physical Therapy, and it was a wonderful meeting. I have mentioned this program and the services Henry receives in previous posts and my brief mentions do not do justice to the wonderful guidance and support they have provided our family. They are amazing! We reviewed the first goals we made for Henry back in his first month of life and all I can say is... WOW. This man has made leaps and bounds since then and it was amazing to reflect and celebrate how far he has come. He will start working with Jackie, his PT, very soon and we have high hopes that with her work in conjunction with his OT, Sheri, Henry will continue the amazing progress.

Henry had a Cardiology appointment with Dr. Raghuveer the middle of this month and it went AWESOME. She said he looked better than she's ever seen him, and of course he was showing off his sitting skills and playing with anything he could get his hands on in her office:) We will return in December to check in again, discuss the "next steps" likely to include another cath at some point next year barring any unexpected changes. Henry's cardiac surgeon, Dr. Lofland, has made national news after performing the first implant of a CardioGraft with MatrACELL. Simplified, the ability to use this type of technique could reduce the amount of surgeries Henry might need in the future... so promising news!! The goal with our Cardiology team remains- growth in height/weight, growth in pulmonary arteries and wait and see. Henry had his 9 month check up with his pediatrician and everything went well there too... though he got the first of two flu vaccinations so he would probably beg to differ! He got through his first temperature... at a whopping 104... which scared his moms a little (!). But, Henry cleared what Dr. Woody thinks was a viral infection in a few days- whew! He was up and crawling within 24 hrs and back to himself... quite a speedy recovery, thank goodness! I know Julie and I struggle with the balance between protecting Henry from flu/bugs and allowing him to enjoy friends, family time and other fun experiences. So bear with us as we attempt to accomplish both of these goals and forgive us if we become the "hand washing police" over the winter months:)

Hope you all have a wonderful fall and Happy (candy filled) Halloween!
