Henry is 16 months!

We've had a wonderful spring so far with lots of visits with friends and family as the warmer weather arrives. KU's early loss in the basketball tournament forced us outside more (which was probably a good thing!!) so no more hibernation for Henry! And, we need new lucky KU socks for next year:) We attended the St. Patrick's Day parade in March (see above pic with Henry in his green!) and had a fun day off together hanging around Lawrence and later Atchison, KS for a corn beef and cabbage dinner with Grams! Henry and I took a trip to St. Louis to celebrate Grandma Simpson's birthday and an early Easter and it was nothing short of awesome. Henry used his new Elmo "basket" in a surprise Easter egg hunt from which he found goldfish crackers and cookies in the loot! The Easter bunny really knows what this child loves:)

Henry continues to "toddle" walking with assistance from furniture, mommas, and anything he can hold onto. He's really into climbing and if you're anywhere near him you'll find yourself becoming Henry's step-ladder/climbing wall. He can catapult himself up on couches, chairs and tables now... so nothing is out of reach:) He's slowed down a little in the gaining weight department, though continues to get taller... almost another inch this past month! A lot of kids are hitting a platue in weight gain at this age with all this new movement, but with Henry we'll be brainstorming ways to keep him going in the right direction. We're always looking at different menu items to give him healthy calorie boosts, so we'll keep trying our dietitian's suggestions and experimentation! We've ditched the bottles and Henry is on straight sippy cups! It takes some prompting, but he a pretty good drinker when it comes to milk and water. He's getting pretty independent when it comes to feeding himself and will definitely let you know when he's "all done" or wants "more" with his sign language. Next we'll start using those things called utensils!

Henry's vocabulary has boomed this month! We went from mostly vowels last month to recent guest appearances from "hi", "bye", "off", "go" and "cookie". The combination of "go go bye bye" as he is climbing into his wagon gets him a walk every time- it's so cute! We know no strangers in the grocery store, post office, etc as Henry will continue to greet them with "hi", "hi", "hi", "hi" plus a big wave... and we're pretty sure he knows he's cute when he's doing it! It's definitely a fun time!

Henry's cath is scheduled for 4/26 at 8:30, so keep him in your thoughts that day. We'll keep everyone posted on the news and future plans as we find them out. Happy Spring!
