Henry surgery has been post-poned due to a viral, ear, and bronchial infection he came down with this past weekend... so Henry will have a little more of summer to enjoy! We will call to reschedule with his team once Henry has shaken all these symptoms, so stay tuned for a later date.
Meanwhile Henry, Julie and I attended a quick surgery consult appointment last month with Dr. Lofland, Henry's cardiac surgeon. Henry showed no signs of shyness with him and promptly walked over and showed him where the buttons were on his white coat. Very cute! Dr. Lofland was wonderful, discussed briefly the surgery and expectations and expressed his surprise and happiness that Henry's pulmonary arteries were ready for this step sooner than they had anticipated. He said surgery was likely to last 2-3 hours and, similar to last surgery, and that they would give us updates throughout the surgery. He anticipated Henry to be in the PICU for 2-3 days and said he would be "running" around on the (cardiac) floor soon after that while they monitored his recovery.
Jules, Henry and I were busy over the last month squeezing in time together with many of you before Henry's surgery. Henry and I took a trip to Lawrence to catch up with the Bridges crew while Uncle Jeremiah was in town (Jeremiah is teaching Henry to enjoy but not touch the computer in the above pic:). Henry had a wonderful time playing in Cousin Phoenix's pool while I enjoyed catching up with family! Henry and I also visited Uncle Tom and Grandma and Grandpa Simpson in St. Louis for a wonderful weekend with family. Henry played in the pool there too while Momma got to catch up with everyone- definitely a theme during this hot summer! We've also snuck in many weekday evenings with friends and we're thankful for the wonderful time and that everyone is so flexible with our schedules in order to do so!
When the weather cooperates, Henry has been loving walking up and down our block. We've met more and more neighbors as Henry walks right up their driveway to greet them... such a gentleman:) There is no going incognito with this man! His pace usually quickens as we get closer to the ice cream shop at the end of the block- it's a great workout for both him and mommas! We continue to frequent parks at Henry's request (he usually says "more!" when we try to sneak by without stopping) during walks on cool breaks and are enjoying Henry's movies (thanks Cousin Leo for sharing Toy Story!!) inside when it's too hot to be outside. We're looking forward to a much different Labor Day weekend coming up than we'd expected- anybody up for the Irish Festival at Crown Center?!? More updates soon!
Much love,
Kate, Julie and Henry
