Henry is 3 years old!

There has been a lot of celebrating going on around here as our man turned three! We had a blast (literally... see cake picture below!) with family and friends over the course of the last couple of weeks reigning in Henry's 3rd year. His recent interest in rocketships inspired many presents (and by that I mean family members searched far and wide for rocketship toys, sheets, etc for him), and Henry was more than excited about each and every one of them! I caught myself on more than one occasion watching Henry interact with family and witnessing him in such a pure state of happiness. It wasn't about the gifts/cake/parties, but the genuine love this boy receives from our wonderful support system. It is the best gift a kid can receive and an amazing birthday to experience:)

Henry has transitioned to getting therapies within the Kansas City school district and so far so good! His schedule includes sessions with the OT and speech therapist on Monday mornings and PT on Tuesday mornings, then he returns to school at his regular Montessori school full days on Wednesdays through Fridays. He will also get something called "special instruction" with an additional teacher in his school for extra learning support for a 40 min. session weekly on Wednesday mornings. It's a busy schedule, but seems to be working good so far. Though we've only had one session with each provider, we have had wonderful interactions with Henry's providers and he seems to really enjoy and be comfortable with them. We braced for some resistance from him, but Henry has taken the change in stride (and, as always, Mommas need to catch up:)!

We had a great time over Thanksgiving break celebrating with family and way too much food and have swiftly shifted into full-on Christmas mode (see above tortured child)! We're excited about the holidays together and with our families and have been talking a lot about Santa, Frosty, Rudolph and, of course... snow! Henry has continued to love singing and with the holidays here we've learned "Jingle Bells", "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snowman". Mommas are working on broadening our repertoire of songs in anticipation of the three hour trip to St. Louis! We wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season and much love and happiness in the new year to come.

Much Love,

Kate, Julie and Henry
