Henry is almost five months!

Great news!! The Cardiac Cath procedure revealed Henry does have pulmonary arteries! The physician who performed the cath told us that in addition to having several very healthy collaterals, he has both a right and left pulmonary artery. This is important because the presence of these arteries make Henry a surgical candidate and open up future options for treatment. The surgeons meet weekly on Friday mornings to discuss cases and Henry's cath will be discussed next week to determine timing and exact surgical options for him. Based on the conversation we had with physician we anticipate surgery will happen within the next month. She talked to us about several options, all hypothetical at this point until the surgeons meet and plan. This morning Henry is recovering well from the procedure and aside from a cough (from the breathing tube) he is doing well and back to chatting up a storm. Of course we're over the moon happy:)

News outside of the cath... Henry is eating better! The reflux medication seems to be working, helping Henry eat more consistently and giving him more energy to be active... in turn making him more hungry! He is now rolling over with a little help from his back to stomach and rolling from stomach to back all by himself! We're working on head control and posture in his "Bumbo" and he is looking so grown up! We're also learning how to blow raspberries (make farting noises) with our mouth- almost equally as exciting as rolling over... and extremely entertaining when his moms try to mirror back his expressions! Oh to be a fly on the wall at our house:)

Julie and Henry helped me celebrate my 33rd birthday in the beginning of this month. A year ago I was wishing for exactly what I've been blessed with today... a wonderful partner, wonderful friends and family, and a beautiful little man to love:) It was a fun week (yes, a week!) and I got to share it with some of my favorite people!

Julie, Henry and I took a trip to Des Moines, Iowa to see Henry's great grandparents, my aunt and uncle and cousins in the beginning of April. He spoiled us by sleeping during the entire ride and enjoyed all of the attention he received from family during the trip- lucky guy! This upcoming month will likely include a little less travel and possibly some heart surgery (!), but we'll keep you posted. It's hard not to believe in miracles after the kind of news we received yesterday. What is for sure is that a lot of people who care about Henry were sending a LOT of prayers and good thoughts his way... and for that we are the luckiest family around:) We can't thank you enough!
