Henry has had a fabulous day today!! The providers now have a beat on what medications are helping best address Henry's withdraw and his personality and energy continues to slowly peeking out. Our Intensivist yesterday said that he won't seem totally himself for up to a week, so we're being patient. But evidence of this reappearance has been duly noted in the following: 1) He now claps for things throughout the day like when providers are finished listening to his chest/taking his temp, 2) he tried to share his "kiki" with both us and Woody earlier today, 3) he asked for "more please" using sign language when he wanted more to drink, 4) he gave one of our providers a high five:) We are over the moon happy with this progress!
Medical progress:
Henry is now at a good (increased both in amount and intervals) level of withdraw medications that since early this AM seem to be addressing a lot of the symptoms he was feeling yesterday. Henry has been able to sleep restfully- two naps already today and hopefully some extended sleep tonight!
He's now on 1/2 liter of oxygen via nasal cannula- which means he's doing all the work with just a little extra O2. He continues to get breathing treatment every four hours to shake up the congestion and is starting to cough better to clear up things.
We've now moved on to milk in the food department and haven't had any reappear since this AM!
In order to move from the PICU to the floor we have to be off breathing assistance and have the withdraw symptoms under control- so we're moving in the right direction!
Much more love and support in store for Henry over the next week here. Below are Mommas in full snuggling effect...
Thanks for checking in on our guy. More love and smiles ahead!
