Heart Walk update

As you might have guessed, we won't be walking in the Heart Walk this year. Thanks for all the excitement and support around this event. We will take a rain check and hopefully be full force a year from now! If you'd still like to join the Congenital Heart Defect Families (CHD) Team, they will be walking that morning. The walk starts at Theis Park (right across the street from the Nelson Art Museum). These are the directions we were given for walkers from the CHD family group... "May 30th is the heartwalk. Please plan to arrive between 8 and 8:30 am. Our picture time will be at 8:30. Please plan to be at the picture taking area at that time. You may check by our tent when you arrive to get red caps, then feel free to look around until we meet at 8:30. Please let your family know where to be when. Currently CHD Families is the number 2 company at over $28,000 raised. Please see support group update for information how to pick up your shirts." We will have CHD Heart Walk Tshirts for those of you who requested them- just give us a call and we'll find a way to get them to you. More information at: http://heartwalk.kintera.org/kansascity/chd.

Henry has been doing awesome and eating like a champ! We're now at 12lbs 4 oz and counting. I think he's beefing up for the surgery and showing his mommas that he's ready (sometimes I read a little into things though:) We've been enjoying the beautiful weather and, of course, are taking a ton of walks. Henry is now awake for a handful of them and is looking around and soaking it all in. Much different scenery than the living room, though many of the same furry creatures in our neck of the woods. We're continuing with practicing blowing raspberries and rolling around during playtime. Often we will catch Henry smiling in another direction only to find he's looking at some of his favorite toys... Willy the Caterpillar, Mr. Hippo and Elmo... it's like he's seeing an old friend! So cute! Everything is going into our mouth... maybe teething (?) and/or maybe just Henry's way of exploring. Time will tell- maybe we will leave the hospital with a repaired heart and a new tooth?!?! He still seems to change and grow week by week and surprise us with new talents and "hobbies". His smile seems to get bigger every week and more and more of his personality is shining through. So fun:)

We've been able to see some of you and received emails from many of you and appreciate the well wishes and support for this week. We had our pre-op appointment this morning and Henry checked out great! We have the first surgery tomorrow morning at 8:00am and, though nervous, we are ready. Again, we will keep you posted with the blog to let you know how he's doing. Thanks again for all the love and support- we are truly a stronger family because of you and all this great energy around us!
