Henry is vent-free! They removed his vent tube last night around 9:00, and he's doing well. He has a sore throat from the tube and sounds hoarse and a little congested, but is so happy that tube is out of his nose. They also removes the NG tube that went to his stomach, and this morning they removed the arterial line and one additional IV line. We were able to hold him, which was a feeling words cannot adequately describe how wonderful. No smiles yet from him, but he is definitely checking us out a lot and finding comfort in our arms (which is SO mutual:) We fed him his first bottle this morning and he drank like a champ! Here is a picture of Henry... a little swollen still from surgery, but taking big steps towards recovery each day.
We're hoping for an uneventful afternoon of lots of snuggle time, eating and healing. Thanks again for all the visits, calls, emails, posts and texts- we really appreciate all the support and love and are telling Henry about all of his fans! Love you all!
