Henry's Surgery Day #8/9

Henry has had another good recovery day yesterday. We continued to work on eating, getting down medications he is now on and resting while managing pain. Despite this, we're seeing a little of Henry's personality return. We're exploring our hands, feet, and all kinds of toys on our back and have given up several smiles today (first only to Mr. Frog, then to mommas:). Henry still can't get back on his stomach for another week, and is obviously pretty sensitive while sitting up or with holding him upright so we're finding different ways to play in the meantime to continue learning. Being on the Cardiology floor has been a wonderful change from the PICU, but we think Henry is getting bored with us in our little world here.

SO, it a good thing we're being discharged today! The doctors rounded & agree the little man is ok for his release back into the world! He is being discharged on a handful of medications that we will be working on creative ways to get him to take everyday, but we're so thankful that this is all we're being discharged with. He will follow up with the Surgery Clinic next week and Cardiology later on this month for continued care and has some discharge instructions about how to manage Henry's incision site and cautions regarding handling him. We will likely not leave the hospital until this afternoon, but look forward to sleeping in our own beds and getting back into our new routine at home. Thank you again for all your positive thoughts/prayers, visits, texts, calls... know that every one made such a difference in Henry's progress and our ability to parent Henry as best we can. We are a lucky family and know how fortunate we are that he is as healthy as he is today and that his village of support is as wonderful and broad as it is. I'll leave you alone with the posts for a while now, but will continue to update as Henry grows!
