Henry's night last night was uneventful (I'm sure he would beg to differ though we're using "doctor talk" right now:). The physicians were pleased with his progress and discharged him to the floor. Below are two videos of what Henry's PICU room and Cardiology floor room looked like to put things in perspective. Sorry about my amateur video abilities (hopefully you don't get nauseous!).
We are now in the Cardio floor room where the environment is much more comfortable and the rules are a lot more flexible- we're cell phone accessible and can have more than two visitors at a time! The unit is specifically for "heart kids" and very kid friendly. Henry has a mobile that sings to him as well as a sound and light box that attaches to his crib that will comfort him during play time and at night if need be. Might end up being things we might need to invest in post-hospital stay if he gets used to them! Our room overlooks Liberty Memorial and Union Station- a welcome distraction for mommas and a pretty sight at sunrise and at night! We feel so comfortable with the care he is getting here and the nurses and physicians continue to be excellent and really keep us in the know about Henry's progress/orders etc. Sounds like they round on this unit every morning, so we will have a team check in on Henry daily for continued care.
Not a lot of new changes with Henry right now. He is getting a little help from an NG tube for feeding in addition to the bottle as Henry is still dealing with pain and fatigue. The NG tube goes in Henry's nose to his stomach and provides him with a way to take nutrition and medication without burning calories. Hopefully by the end of the week he'll be gaining in energy and stamina and have less pain... we have faith Hank the Tank will be there soon:) Discharge is still a ways off and we've heard anywhere from 5-7 more days. Many factors to monitor and we know Henry's providers will ensure he is well enough to go home before the official discharge. All in all- still amazing progress from the little guy! When we arrived to our room this afternoon Henry promptly took his binki out of his mouth and put it in sideways to chew on it... which is definitely a sign of his spirit returning! More soon!

...already to the floor with only 5 days in PICU. He has earned his "Hank the Tank" moniker. Great job Henry.
