Surgery Day #10

Henry has graduated to the floor!! We are now on the step-down unit where Henry will finish out his recovery. He is still sleepy and achy but is starting to be more awake and continues to be very snuggly. He has eaten fish crackers (in space- his favorite snack), french fries and drank almost two containers of chocolate milk after recommendations from the doctors to "give him anything he will eat"! He will likely be here through the weekend, but this will depend on how he does with continuing to eat, increase his mobility, and wean from some oxygen support he was put on overnight last night via nasal cannula (nose prongs) to keep his SATs up. OT/PT came by to start their work with him and he stood up for about 30 seconds and played with cars with them. They will continue to work with him daily until he is discharged. He started playing with the iPad, which makes us know he's getting back to himself:) We will continue to try to keep him eating and moving in effort to continue to strengthen his lungs and get his strength back.

Happily, this is the part of the hospitalization where I'm really neglectful of the blog because I get to play with Henry! So I'm going to post once daily with our progress. We are so excited to work with him during this time and appreciate all of the positive thoughts coming our way to help Henry get stronger!

Much love,

Kate, Julie, Henry and Gus
