Surgery Day #9

Henry has new real estate this morning! We've moved from Room 34 to 26! You probably think I'm a little crazy for getting excited about moving 8 rooms away, but every step closer to the PICU entrance and away from the nursing desk is one more step closer to taking our guy home! Henry is doing great this morning and has had a super busy day so far. Blake drain removed (the chest tube for drainage from surgery), Dopamine (last of the heart medications) cut in half, and plans to see how he does mask free when he is a little more awake. Already a visit with GoGo and in her arms, and GG on the way (plans for direct transfer from one grandma to the other- lucky boy:)! We have Erin back as a nurse and absolutely spoils Henry and Mommas! Lots of holding planned for today to help him get over this next hump.

Henry is still very sleepy, but very aware of where he is. This is great because we're able to manage pain a little better and understand what he needs. It is hard because you can tell he worries when he is not in our arms and unsure about what is happening next. The providers are great about telling him what they are doing in ways he can understand and letting us hold him as much as possible for comfort. They are being cautious with him as he is on "Henry time", though allowing progress as he is ready. Tricky balance, but he is doing awesome! We asked Henry this morning if he wanted to see Gus and he nodded his head- so Gus paid a visit this AM. Nothing like your brother's giggles to help! More updates soon as well as pictures !

Much love,

K, J, H and G
