Post Surgery and Happy Birthday Momma J!!

Henry is doing wonderful at home post surgery.  He has said several times now "My owies are getting better" when I ask how he is doing.  He is walking more confidently every day and has to be reminded to "go slow" sometimes.  We were tasked with keeping him from climbing, and this has been a bit of a challenge.  He was half-way in Gus' crib before I could get him out and tends to follow me upstairs if I don't remind him! He wants to jump around, pick up Gus and generally do things three year-old's do. We aren't too worried, but will clarify these concerns at his follow up appointment Tuesday.

I paint a pretty positive picture because we're completely impressed with his progress, but Henry does have some residual symptoms from surgery.  He has been very constipated coupled with taking Lasix which makes his urinate a lot.  As he was potty trained prior to surgery it is really confusing to him why he's back in diapers and why he is having difficulty getting to the potty in time.  His sleeping schedule is pretty off as he falls asleep before he was typically napping and has been waking at night periodically due to his interrupted schedule while in the hospital. He doesn't complain of pain, but is on scheduled Ibuprofen, which we hope is addressing some of this. We'll utilize OT and PT to help us get Henry back to his baseline mobility wise and have a while to adjust his sleep schedule and potty training prior to school as he will be out until the week after Thanksgiving.

Henry is super excited about Halloween! I think the "Henry the amazing recovery boy" might be appropriate this year, but not as fun as the costume he has chosen:). Pictures to come! Today we're all off together and are celebrating Momma J's birthday!  Lots of smiles in pictures below and more updates soon!

Much love,

Kate, Julie, Henry and Gus
