Surgery Day #6

Posting a little late today, but Henry is beginning to require a little more hands on from mommas- yeah!! He had a good uneventful night last night. They have slowly scaled back on both the sedatives and oxygen and he's doing great with the changes. We might have caught a bug as Henry spiked a bit of a temperature this afternoon. Lab culture is pending, and they will address as needed to help him shake it off. Henry still has some fluid on his lungs, again something they expected in his recovery due to all the increased profusion (my new fancy word that means blood flow:) from Henry's heart to his lungs. They are doing breathing "treatments" to help shake off some of the extra congestion in there. They compare them to "minimarathons", and he has some nice recovery/restful time afterwards.

Henry has had moments today where it seems as though he's totally ready to wake up with eyes opening and lots of squirming. These are good signs, though frustrating and confusing for Henry who just wants to be comforted. Henry's providers will continue to progress with weaning off the sedation and O2 help even more, though let Henry dictate how fast. So both progress and challenges for Henry, but overall right on track!

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers! We've heard from so many of you and all the texts, calls, emails, etc are so heart warming. Know that we are so grateful for our support system and could not help Henry through this without you all.

Love always,

K&J
